Is it rude for home fans to boo the home team?

New York Yankees were merciless to their superstar free agent signing, booing Giancarlo Stanton after striking out five times in his home debut. This isn't the first or the last time home team fans booed the team they support, but many feel it's bad form for people to do that. Players need support after all. Others feel fans pay good money to see a show, and praise shouldn't be doled out for bad performances. What do you think? 👎

Giancarlo Stanton might be a once-in-a-generation hitter, but at his first home game, the fans decide to boo him after a bad night. Entitled much? These players come out and bust their hump to try and give people a good show. Sometimes it doesn't work out. Home fans booing their team is classless and moronic.

When you're off at work, do you have thousands of people judge you for a couple hours of production or lack thereof? Get over yourselves and support your team without booing.

Sports is a meritocracy. Good play is rewarded and bad play isn't. Five strikeouts just aren't going to cut it. Not in New York. Not anywhere else. Fans shouldn't have to settle for bad performances.

They should be allowed to voice their displeasure when they give up their hard earned money for a show and don't get one. Even Stanton himself said he deserved to get booed after striking out all of his at-bats. Players know what they sign up for when they want to be professionals. Getting booed by home fans is just part of the territory. If they don't like it, play better.
