For many, WWE wrestlers are the real-life superheroes of the world. Whether they were upholding the values of justice or doing whatever it took to win, professional wrestlers continue to inspire or draw the ire of fans. Some feel that wrestling is a fake sport, but people will defend their favorite performers to the death. These athletes breathe so much life into their personas that fans can't help but think they're real.

Many go to the WWE believing they will become legendary, like some of the wrestlers before them, but few performers can really count themselves amongst the best of the best. These almost mythical heroes and villains have etched their names into eternity with unforgettable performances and inimitable characters. That's why we picked 16 of the best wrestlers to fight in the squared circle of the WWE and want you to answer one question: Who is the greatest WWE wrestler ever?

This matchup features The Rock and Andre the Giant. The Rock laid waste to Randy Orton in the first round by grabbing 64.2 percent of the vote. He then dominated Chris Jericho in the second round, getting 71.3 percent of the vote.

There have been superstars in the WWE before, but there was no one bigger than Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. From his iconic entrance music to his athletic performances in the ring, Johnson took his popularity in pro wrestling and transcended to mainstream megastardom that had never been seen before.

Johnson may have strayed from his face role into heeldom a few times but his time as a hero lit the WWE on fire, even during one of the most popular eras of professional wrestling. Johnson wasn't just a star—he was the star. Do you smell what the Rock is cooking?

He may have been one of the best athletes on WWE roster (Johnson was a national championship football player at the University of Miami), but his mic work was what made him legendary.

When he wasn't smoking jabronies in the ring, he was killing them in promos. No one could turn a phrase or create a catchphrase out of thin air like Johnson. Don't you think? IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK.

You can't talk about giants of professional wrestling without talking about the original. Andre the Giant was a larger than life persona whose dominating reign of terror defined professional wrestling for over a decade—and he never lost a match. His size made him both a great villain and hero everyone loved. That kind of flexibility with his obvious star power made him one of the greatest to step into a wrestling ring.

His work as a wrestler is the stuff of legend, but what made him even more popular was his legend out of the ring. Whether it was the sheer volume of his alcohol consumption or his gentle demeanor with everyone around him, Andre became one of the few crossover mainstream successes to come out of the WWE.
