It's that time of year again. The real NHL season begins. The Stanley Cup is up for grabs and 16 teams are vying the biggest prize in hockey. In the first round, the Tampa Bay Lightning are facing off against the New Jersey Devils. Tampa Bay has one of the most dangerous offensive lineups in the NHL. However, the Devils shocked the league by making the playoffs and will look to surprise any team that underestimates them. Who advances? 🏒

The Lightning scored nearly 300 goals this season, one of the best offensive campaigns in recent years. Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos are two of the main perpetrators of this scoring onslaught, but they have opened things up for their teammates as well.

In between the pipes for Tampa Bay is goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, who has 44 wins, a .920 save percentage and eight shutouts for the season. With a potent mix of both offensive and defense, there is no way the upstart Devils can stop them.

No one expected the New Jersey Devils to make it this far. Some people had them finishing at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division at the beginning of the season, but here they are in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and they can do some damage.

No. 1 overall pick Nico Hischier has taken to the NHL quickly and Taylor Hall has taken his talent to whole other level in terms of goal scoring. With Keith Kinkaid winning 16 of his last 20 starts, the Devils have arguably the hottest goaltender in the NHL. Historically speaking, that can take a team a long way. The Devils will stone the Lightning in the first round.
