It's that time of year again. The real NHL season begins. The Stanley Cup is up for grabs and 16 teams are vying the biggest prize in hockey. In the first round, the Nashville Predators are facing off against the Colorado Avalanche. The Predators won the Presidents' Trophy this season, and look like they will avenge their Stanley Cup loss from last season. However, the Avalanche have a chip on their shoulder and MVP candidate Nathan MacKinnon has the talent to shock the world. Who advances? 🏒

One year removed from losing the Stanley Cup Final and the Predators haven't lost a step. The team's goaltending has carried Nashville to a lot of wins this season; Pekka Rinne and Juuse Saros have a combined .922 save percentage.

That doesn't mean the Preds' scoring is lacking, however. The Predators have four +20-goal scorers on their roster who can light up teams. Nashville is going to snuff out the underdog Avalanche.

Two words. Nathan MacKinnon. He is playing the best hockey of his career, notching 97 points in 74 games this season. But aside from that, he has the backing of a team buying into the underdog narrative.

So what if Colorado is the last team into the playoffs? Coincidentally, so were the Nashville Predators last season and they made it to the finals. Anything can happen in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. With MacKinnon leading the way, the Avalanche can bury anyone.
