Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the Justice Department would make a hard-line policy shift of separating undocumented immigrant children from their parents when detained. The punitive shift is meant to dissuade families from illegally crossing the border. Critics argue the policy of separating families at the border is both unnecessary and inhumane. Do you think it's wrong to separate migrant children from their parents at the border?

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is sending a clear message to those who would wish to cross the border with small children: don't. Sessions recently announced individuals illegally crossing the border would be separated from their children "as required by law."

“If you cross the border unlawfully . . . then we will prosecute you,” Sessions said. “If you smuggle an illegal alien across the border, then we’ll prosecute you. . . . If you’re smuggling a child, then we’re going to prosecute you, and that child will be separated from you, probably, as required by law. If you don’t want your child separated, then don’t bring them across the border illegally. It’s not our fault that somebody does that.”

Many feel this policy is both inhumane and unnecessary.

These aren't "illegal aliens," these are human beings fleeing violence and seeking asylum.

But others argue those who break the law should have to suffer the consequences.

And President Trump blames Democrats for the breaking up of families at the border.
