Do we need a Boba Fett standalone movie?

Lucasfilm is developing a "Star Wars" stand-alone movie about fan-favorite character Boba Fett. The jet-pack wearing, helmet-clad bounty hunter achieved cult status after his introduction in "The Empire Strikes Back," but the tepid box office returns of the Han Solo stand-alone movie have some asking whether we really need a full-length feature about such a minor character. Part of Bobo Fett's appeal was his mystery. Do we need an entire feature film devoted to Boba Fett?

Some fans are thrilled about the prospect of a Boba Fett standalone film, but they want to make sure Disney gets it right.

One of the moments from the original trilogy that made Fett so intriguing to fans was Darth Vader telling him not to disintegrate his targets. Given how little time we get with the character, it felt notable that even Vader, one of the galaxy's most feared figures, had to tell this particular bounty hunter not to turn people into piles of ash. It made him seem more notorious than the rest of the scum and villainy who had been sent out to find Han and company. Any film showing Fett's story would need to back up that legend and show why he's earned that reputation. We know what happens when someone is shot with a blaster or struck down with a lightsaber: What happens when Boba Fett disintegrates you?

Other fans say no one asked for this. Seeing Boba Fett as a little kid in the prequels was awful. His death in "Return of The Jedi" was a joke. This is just one more attempt from Disney to monetize and squeeze the life out of every single character in the "Star Wars" universe. Make it stop!

Some think the more we find out about him, the less awesome he'll be.

Others argue this is sexist AF. Where's the Princess Leia standalone?

But Boba's fandom is here for a full-length feature about him.

If Disney does it right, it could be fantastic. Someone jump on this "Boba Fett: Predator" concept stat!

Even if the end product sucks, some fans will still buy tickets to see it.
