Tom Holland has successfully taken over the mantle of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he's web-slung into big shoes. Tobey Maguire beat out Andrew Garfield as the best Spider-Man in our last poll, successfully portraying Spidey in three blockbusters for Sony and bringing in an estimated $2.4 billion worldwide. But Tom's highly praised "Spider-Man: Homecoming" had the second biggest opening for any Spidey movie. Also, Stan Lee says Holland is the best Spider-Man yet. What do you think? 🕷️

Below is the synopsis to the original "Spider-Man," per IMDB.

When bitten by a genetically modified spider, a nerdy, shy, and awkward high school student gains spider-like abilities that he eventually must use to fight evil as a superhero after tragedy befalls his family.

Tobey's iteration of Spider-Man is pretty much legendary at this point. He gave spectacular performances in the first Sony-produced "Spider-Man" trilogy, from 2002 to 2007. Right after "Blade" (1998) and "X-Men" (2000), Tobey helped bring a famous Marvel comic book property to life on the silver screen with the original "Spider-Man" movie. The original "Spider-Man" trilogy truly jump-started today's Golden Age of superhero films, and Tobey will forever be the actor who slung Spider-Man into the same realm of popularity as Batman and Superman.

Below is the synopsis of "Spider-Man: Homecoming," per IMDB.

Peter Parker, with the help of his mentor Tony Stark, tries to balance his life as an ordinary high school student in New York City while fighting crime as his superhero alter ego Spider-Man when a new threat emerges.

Tom is garnering lots of praise for embodying both the essence of Peter Parker and Spider-Man. While Tobey was a great Peter, Tom is both nerdy enough to be Peter and funny enough to be Spidey. Fans are calling him perfect for the role, especially following the success of "Homecoming."

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we've entered a new era of Spidey, and it's already more epic than ever. Sorry, Tobey.
