One Direction and Fifth Harmony were formed on "The X-Factor" franchise, and both acts dominated the pop scene with bops on top of bops. But Directioners and Harmonizers mourn the days when these pop groups ruled the charts and sold out concert venues. 1D officially went on hiatus in 2016, while 5H announced their hiatus in 2018. Most of the former members of both groups have gone solo. 1D achieved worldwide success with five hit albums, while 5H slayed for nearly six years. Who do you miss more? 🎤

One Direction formed on "The X Factor" in 2010. Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson were all eliminated as solo artists but were brought back to create a boy band. One Direction was born!

Ultimately, the group didn't win, but managed to place third. Still, they grew a strong fanbase on social media and were signed by Simon Cowell, releasing their debut album "Up All Night" in late 2011. The album spun their first big hit, "What Makes You Beautiful." The song is about a guy expressing his admiration for his girlfriend. It topped the charts in the U.K. and cracked the top 10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. 1D became unstoppable.

Unfortunately for Directioners, Zayn left the group in March 2015 to pursue a solo career. 1D released four albums together as a quintet: "Up All Night," "Take Me Home," "Midnight Memories" and "Four." The group released one album as a quartet, "Made in the A.M.," back in November of 2015.

Zayn made his breakthrough with the #1 hit "Pillowtalk" on his album "Mind of Mine" in early 2016. The group announced their hiatus around the same time in 2016. Niall, Harry, Liam, and Louis have all released solo singles or albums between 2016 and 2017. The quartet's final single is "History," a love letter to their fans.

Below are some notable lyrics to "History," per Genius.

🎶 You and me got a whole lot of history. We could be the greatest team that the world has ever seen. You and me got a whole lot of history. So don't let it go, we can make some more, we can live forever.🎶

Check out the music video below.

"Made in the A.M." topped the U.K. Albums Chart, while peaking at #2 on the Billboard 200. The album holds sentimental value to Directioners as the group's final album before going on hiatus. The album also holds the distinction of being the only album without Zayn. Listen to the LP below via Spotify.

Okay, so Fifth Harmony didn't win the U.S. version of "X Factor" in 2012, but they did make it to the top three—and how many other acts from U.S. version of that show can you name? Probably zero.

Fifth Harmony filled the girl group void with international appeal and success. The group strung together worldwide hits like "Work from Home" and "Worth It," but a ton of other successful fierce anthems, including "Miss Movin' ON," "Bo$$," "Sledgehammer," and "That's My Girl."

Fifth Harmony went from cute, young pop singers to empowered pop divas. But they also went through a lineup change with Camila Cabello embarking on her solo career in 2017. The four remaining ladies—Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui and Ally Brooke—gained momentum in 2017 as a quartet. They achieved a string of bops, awards, epic performances and a third studio album. Although Camila was key to the group's initial success, the quartet definitely was "better together" in 2017. But now Harmonizers are heartbroken after all the ladies of 5H decided to go solo. It's a bittersweet moment, as the ladies continue to slay... just individually.

Even with your typical American girl group drama, 5H has managed to successfully continue the legacy of their foremothers (The Supremes, En Vogue, Destiny's Child, TLC, etc.). 5H has broken into many pop markets, embodying the fierceness of these previous American girl groups from the '90s and '00s. The American girl group may be gone too soon but has reignited interest in the sub-genre.

Below are some notable lyrics to 5H's final song together, "Don't Say You Love Me," per Genius.

🎶I need a little bit more. I need a little bit more. You gotta know what it's like. I know you been here before. I've been waiting, I've been patient. But I need a little bit more🎶

Watch their final (for now) music video below.

Listen to Fifth Harmony's self-titled third album below via Spotify. It was the group's first album without Camila, showing off growth and a new level of slay-age. It's also the group's last album, now that they are on hiatus.

#Team1D because they were one of the biggest boy bands of '10s, and we'd love to see all five original members back together again.

#Team5H because all FIVE ladies of Fifth Harmony are fierce queens who slayed together, and the girl group will be missed.
