With "Black Panther,"  "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Ant-Man and the Wasp," the Marvel Cinematic Universe is stronger than ever. Meanwhile the DC Extended Universe continues to struggle with an array of critically panned films—including "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," "Suicide Squad" and "Justice League." Fans argue that criticism is biased. But "Wonder Woman" was, without a doubt, a groundbreaking success, proving DCEU has what it takes. Does the DCEU have what it takes to top Marvel?

The MCU has successfully developed its characters and storylines across 17 movies since "Iron Man" in 2008. The DCEU has been in development hell for quite some time and has yet to find a consistent flow. A new study argues that moviegoers prefer MCU films, according to Heroic Hollywood.

A study was recently conducted by the market research tech company ZappiStore that explains why Marvel Studios consistently outperforms DC Films. The study used an advanced facial and emotional recognition platform to analyze the emotional responses of people watching numerous trailers from both companies.
The study concluded that viewers seem to resonate more with the characters and stories within the MCU compared to the DCEU. Viewers view Marvel Studios as a brand that stays true to the characters as displayed in the comics whereas DC Films ventures into different versions of the characters than what some fans may find as ideal – despite DC Films’ ongoing course-correction.

The DECEU has the characters needed to break out, it's just a matter of time before the films start living up to expectations. The holy trinity of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman can't be counted out.

While DCEU films are critically panned, the films are huge box office successes. CBR writes:

The DC Extended Universe has been subject to ruthless criticism and plenty of doubt, but the numbers don’t lie — the first five installments of Warner Bros.’ DCEU have earned more than the first five movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Going by the box office results alone, it’s impossible to argue that the DC Extended Universe hasn’t been more successful.
