The "Tomb Raider" reboot hit theaters weeks ago, and Lara Croft never looked more badass with Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander in the lead. Whether Vikander or Angelina Jolie is slaying the role, Harrison Ford played the original archaeological hero—Indiana Jones in Steven Spielberg's franchise. Male geeks have been dressing up as the iconic adventurous character for decades. But Croft is a video game legend, and butt-kicking heroine that little girls can look up to. Who's more badass?

Indiana Jones definitely paved the way for Lara Croft as an action hero.

Harrison Ford starred as the adventurous archaeologist, historian and college professor in all four films. The "Indiana Jones" series has grossed $2.2 billion globally. The character is known for his sense of humor, but also for getting out of tight situations, his knowledge of ancient civilizations and his paralyzing fear of snakes. His style is both emulated and iconic—consisting of fedora, leather jacket, satchel and bullwhip.

While Indiana Jones came first, Lara Croft is a video game legend from the commercially successful "Tomb Raider" series, which has been impressively adapted to the big screen twice and then rebooted. Angelina Jolie took on the part in the first two films, making more than $380 million combined globally. The Vikander-led reboot has made an estimated $247 million worldwide thus far. The entire series has made an estimated $628.3 million worldwide so far.

Croft is a highly intelligent and super-athletic Englishwoman and archaeologist who searches the world for lost artifacts. She is simultaneously a video game sex symbol while also cutting against other problematic portrayals of female characters in video games. She isn't a damsel in distress; she's a badass, a heroine and the lead. Croft is a groundbreaking character in geek culture, making her the ultimate archaeologist
