The International House of Pancakes announced it would change its name from "IHOP" to "IHOB" last week, but kept us in suspense about what the "b" stood for. We now know the "b" stands for "burgers," not breakfast, and the Internet has feelings about that. Some say this is just a silly marketing stunt. Others point out it might be silly, but it worked: IHOP, IHOb, and International House all began trending almost immediately. Is 'International House of Burgers' a stupid name change? 🍔

IHOB (or IHOb?) seemed content by the outrage over the faux name change. There's no such thing as bad publicity.

A spokeswoman for the global flapjack dwelling, Stephanie Peterson, said that even the company, which engineered the reaction, had been surprised by its force.

“We thought that people would have fun with this, but never did we imagine that it would grab the attention of America the way it did,” she said.

Wendy's threw shade.

As did celebrities.

Long time IHOP fans were deeply offended.

 Other critics noted the chain had ripped off the OB tampons logo. IHOB's marketing department may need to hire some women.

But some industry experts said they were making a good choice by taking the focus off pancakes and on to beef.
